IRC classes are designed for adults and participants must be18 or olderto participate.​ Minors are not allowed in the studio due to safety precautions.

DEADLINE TO PICK UP COMPLETED CLASS PIECES IS 2 MONTHS FROM THE LAST CLASS DATE. ANY UNCLAIMED PIECES WILL BE DONATED TO THE STUDIO OR DISCARDED. PLEASE CONTACT THE STUDIO IF YOU NEED TO MAKE ALTERNATE ARRANGEMENTS BEYOND THE DEADLINE.

For cancellations more than 14 DAYS before the first class day, a refund less 15% handling charge will be issued. For cancellations within 14 days before the start of class, class cost will be forfeited unless the space is resold. If the space is resold, a refund less 15% will be issued. We are unable to offer credits for future classes.

Making a Portrait Bust from Life

The first part of the class will review the anatomy of the head and students will make an ecorche of the face showing the skull on one side and the muscles on the other. Following this the students will learn from the instructor how to make a portrait from life. The students will then learn how to prepare the two clay pieces for firing. The class will also cover some issues regarding the design and mounting of a sculpture bust.

The cost of the class includes armature and clay. A live model will be used in sessions 2 and 3. A one day class on faux patinas will follow the course at an additional cost.
