Clay Raku Workshop – 3 Sessions
Experience the excitement and unpredictability of raku pottery in this hands-on workshop designed for beginners and experienced clay artists alike. Over three sessions, you’ll create, glaze, and fire your own unique raku pieces while learning about the history and techniques behind this dramatic firing method.
Session 1: Creating Your Pieces
Participants will hand build up to three clay pieces, under the guidance of the instructor. We’ll cover basic construction techniques, surface preparation, and design ideas to get your work ready for bisque firing.
Session 2: Glazing
Once your pieces have been bisqued, you’ll return to explore raku glazes. You’ll learn how different glaze applications can affect the final outcome and prepare your work for the raku firing.
Session 3: Raku Firing (Date TBD)
The final session is the highlight of the workshop! You’ll take part in the exciting raku firing process—removing red-hot pieces from the kiln, placing them in combustible materials, and watching the unpredictable magic of raku unfold. You’ll leave with finished pieces the same day.
Join us for this unforgettable clay experience where fire, smoke, and creativity combine to create one-of-a-kind works of art.
