Nancy Rust

Artist Member

Nancy has lived in Florida since 1963, after moving to Hollywood from New England. She has been passionate about art for as long as she can remember. She earned a BFA in Fine Arts with a major in ceramics and a K-12 Art teaching certification from the University of South Florida in Tampa. Nancy spent 32 years teaching art in Broward County, Florida—22 of those years at the high school level, where ceramics was always a core part of her curriculum.

Throughout her career, Nancy participated in numerous art and ceramics workshops to expand her knowledge. After retiring in 2018, she focused more on ceramics, making it the central part of her creative process. She joined an open studio pottery group at Broward College until recently.

In 2022, Nancy and her husband moved to Vero Beach, where she sought a ceramic arts community and found Indian River Clay. After participating in several open studio classes and workshops, and volunteering on the kiln committee, Nancy knew she wanted to become a member of IRC.

Nancy is excited to contribute to IRC, drawing from her experience in both teaching and ceramics. A true team player, she enjoys collaborating with others to help IRC grow into a joyful and thriving clay arts community in Vero Beach. She is always open to hearing others' thoughts and ideas.
