Jay Buckler - Studio Manager

Studio Manager

Jay Buckler grew up in Maryland with his loving mother and father, three older sisters and one younger brother. He served in the U.S. Air Force for four years as an aviation electronics technician. Later, as a civilian contractor, Jay supervised the production of Naval aircraft in Waco, TX. After this he studied art with a strong focus on ceramics at Austen Peay State University in Clarksville, TN. He set up his own ceramics studio at his home in Delaware where he worked primarily at the pottery wheel, formulating a variety of glazes, and firing Cone 10 reduction with his gas kiln.

Jay moved to Vero Beach in April of 2024 and immediately began taking classes at Indian River Clay. Before long he began volunteering to fire our large gas kiln, and by the end of the year had been hired as our studio manager. “I feel my entire adult life has been in preparation for this position. It’s a real honor and pleasure to be working with the wonderful artists at IRC.”
