Boar’s Head Mugs: Bigger Than Life
Get ready to make a mug that refuses to be ordinary! In this three-session class, you’ll build an outrageous, larger-than-life boar’s head mug using hand-building techniques, then push your creativity even further with color and surface decoration.
The first two three-hour sessions are all about building and sculpting. You’ll have the opportunity to stretch your hand-building skills as you create a character with personality, attitude, exaggerated features, and plenty of room for your imagination to run wild. Think whimsical, expressive, ridiculous, and completely over the top. This is a great class for practicing and expanding hand-building techniques while learning how far you can push clay before it tells you to stop!
The third session is a four-hour glazing extravaganza. You’ll use underglazes to bring your boar to life, experiment with color and surface decoration, and explore the possibilities of underglaze on a highly sculptural piece. It’s a terrific opportunity to practice glazing techniques while making some seriously creative choices.

Materials To Bring: clay, your favorite tools for handbuilding, glazing brushes, clear brush on glaze, and various underglazes for session three. Basic tools will be provided.
