Making a Portrait Bust from Life
The first day of the class will review the anatomy of the head and students will make an écorché of the face showing the skull on one side and the muscles on the other. Following this, the students will follow the instructor on a step by step exercise of how to make a portrait from a live model. The students will learn how to prepare the sculptures for firing. The class will also cover some design and mounting issues for a sculpture bust.
The cost of the class includes armature and clay. A live model will be used in sessions 2 and 3. A one day class on faux patinas will follow the course at an additional cost.
